Your Character

Stats

Rated 1-10 for humans. A “perfectly average” human has 5 in all 5 stats.
  • Body (Strength, Endurance)
  • Finesse (Agility, Control)
  • Mind (Reason)
  • Charm (Charisma, Command)
  • Sense (Detect, Awareness)

Story

Each player has a stockpile of Story points. (Fate, Drama) They spend these to force the story to move as they wish it:
  • To convert failures into successes.
  • To survive injuries.
  • To introduce new facts about their character.
  • To navigate magic, and other hazards beyond mortal ken.
  • …or to come out the other side smelling like roses, when only sheer willpower, luck, or fate could save you.
Spending Story points are the main trigger for your character permanently improving their abilities.

Hang-Ups

Hang-Ups are your character’s limitations. You can pick any number of hang-ups for your character, and they can be anything that makes sense within the story.
The GM or other players can call you on your hang-ups, sabotaging your actions. You get rewarded whenever this happens: You earn a Story point each time your hang-ups trip you up.
There’s an allotment of Story you can earn each session by having your hang-ups called on you; 3 for a typical session. You want your character to have enough hang-ups to not leave any of these Story points unclaimed. You don’t want to have so many hang-ups that you’re still getting penalized long after there’s no more Story left to earn.
